"Nature's way of taking care of chaos is to put things in a spiral," he said. "It creates a vortex field, kind of like a hurricane, tornado or water going down your drain." At the Montana Vortex and House of Mystery you may appear to grow or shrink.

So I’ll be sure to update you all on any strange experiences that I may have. According to several of my sources, at least, our slanted little shack is somewhat of a hotspot when it comes to spirit activity. Especially, when you enter the house of mystery with a skeptical mind. You see while standing inside the building, visitors are likely to feel as though they are leaning—probably about 18 degrees in either direction.

How Does the Mystery House Work?

"When you raise your head you see I'm not standing straight," he said. COLUMBIA FALLS, Mont. — Just west of Glacier National Park, you will find a place that some say may redefine the laws of physics and nature. That said, I also don’t buy the idea that Montana’s vortex is a complete and utter hoax.

But even still, those who have had the chance to walk through this building may just beg to differ. Another feature is a supposedly level surface where visitors visibly shrink or grow, depending on where they’re standing. The Montana Vortex also has an Aura Spot and a healing area called the Labyrinth. Both of them reportedly emphasize the property’s mystifying natural and spiritual properties. But bear in mind that hundreds of visitors have experienced this very phenomenon. As a matter of fact, it’s a featured element of every guided tour that Joe leads.

Could Montana’s Vortex truly be for real, or is it just another hoax?

A shift of gravity, spatial energy changes, strange paranormal activity has been witnessed here. Snapshots of footprints and silhouette shadows of bigfoot have been captured here. Whether you first walk through those doors thinking it’s all an elaborate optical illusion or the energy truly resonates with you, it’s a place you have to experience to appreciate it.

The leaning shack sits on top of the smallest vortex with the center in the middle of the house. Yet, stepping outside the door, most people feel perfectly normal, although a handful do carry the effects for hours afterwards. New exhibits have been added to allow groups the option of self-guided tours. If you're looking for a memorable experience, check out the Montana Vortex and House of Mystery.

You see, I’ve recently come to the realization that I have somewhat of a clouded perspective when it comes to my own personal hometown haunts. Truth be told, I live relatively close to dozens of haunted or even paranormal-charged locations. While it may not be a life-changing experience, it’s a pleasant diversion of about 45 minutes or so. It bends your concept of reality, at least for a while, and may cause you to consider the limitations of your visual senses.

In the house, is a platform to stand on as if the house were level. Oddly enough, this wouldn't be the last time this light made an appearance in Columbia Falls—as several of Joe’s colleagues witnessed the same anomaly only two months later. Specifically, I saw a number of reports from guests claiming to have captured spirit orbs on camera. That said, it’s also worth mentioning that I wasn’t able to find any images online that could serve to substantiate these claims. So yeah, as interesting as these reports may be, it’s probably best to take them with a grain of salt. While on these tours, guests are invited to complete various exercises.

For a small fee, guests can enter into these vortexes and experience physics-defying optical illusions or maybe even encounter entities from somewhere beyond. Next to the leaning shack, there is a walkway where Hauser, or whomever is offering the tour at the time, demonstrates that the ground is level. One person stands on one end of the platform, while another is approximately 6 feet apart on the other end.

So in light of that, let's discuss the specifics when it comes to the evidence collected here. In one exercise, for instance, Joe invites willing participants to hold their palms parallel to the ground. Those who do, often report feeling the oddest sensation that their fingers have energetically fused together. Then somewhere within this energy, a glimmer of color will sometimes appear.

Whether the phenomena you experience here are real depends on your frame of mind. Maybe they do defy the laws of physics — or maybe it’s just a bunch of hooey. The aura, Joe often tells his guests, it’s the life force behind every living thing. Now while inside, visitors can participate in an array of, let’s call them experiments. Between climbing ladders and lifting weights, or even simply standing on the slanted floor, it all becomes much more difficult under the influence of the vortex below.

These disorienting optical illusions can extend to the surrounding landscape in places where there’s no clear view of the horizon. Sorry to spoil some of the fun, but the secret behind the Mystery House is in the angles. Built on a slant, it has the same tried-and-true “gravity-defying” design shared by other so-called mystery houses around the country.

It’s the same with many of the people who visit specifically to challenge the assertions. Its early owners, Joe and Marge Hauber, who bought the place in 1965 to retire and possible open up a small campground, discovered they felt odd when they stood in a particular location. In this lovely spot, filled with trees and stories of other dimensions, you might even find your aura. As always, I will link this photo in today’s show notes at hauntscast.com. And if you’re as skeptical as I am, I encourage you to check it out. Because the photo itself is quite the compelling piece of evidence—especially considering that the sun wouldn’t have been that low in the sky at high noon. And just as he did the light collapsed into a small orb before it flew off to the East and quickly disappeared. Now like I said, I didn’t see much evidence online to support what I consider to be somewhat bold claims.

In fact, some claim the strongest vortexes anywhere in the world are in the Sedona, Ariz., area. This is in north-central Arizona, in the Coconino National Forest. The Great Pyramids in Egypt, Stonehenge in England, and Machu Picchu in Peru may also be vortex sites. In addition, there are possible vortex locations in Spain, South Africa, and Australia, as well as several in Arizona. It’s a visual trick that causes you to question the basic laws of gravity. Because of your distorted perspective, it may seem that balls are rolling uphill or water is flowing backward.
